The ingredients needed to make Sambhar:
  1. Make ready 1 cup tuar dal or pigeon pulse
  2. Get 2 cup mix veg chopped in cubes( carrot,drumstick, bottle gourd)
  3. Get 1 tbsp imli (tamarind)pulp
  4. Get 1 tsp grated Jaggery
  5. Make ready 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  6. Make ready 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  7. Take 2-3 tbsp sambhar masala(I used homemade)
  8. Take As needed Curry leaves
  9. Prepare 1 tsp rai(mustard seeds)
  10. Get 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  11. Prepare to taste Salt
  12. Take As needed Oil for Tempering
  13. Prepare 3-4 whole red chilli
  14. Make ready as needed water

From Daman India. (Sambhar, Kadamba Sambar, Kalyana Sambar). Sambar is a south Indian dish made with lentils (usually toor dal) and vegetables and served with white rice, idlis or dosa. Idli Sambar Recipe with stepwise photos. One of the best tiffin sambar recipe i must say.

Instructions to make Sambhar:
  1. First wash and soak tuar dal for 20_30 min.
  2. Now place dal in cooker add salt and turmeric powder. And cook funtil 3/4th done.
  3. Now open the lid and vegetable, chilli powder and sambhar masala cook another 2 whistle.let it cool open the lid and add imli and Jaggery cook for 1 boil.
  4. Take a Tadka pan add oil warm it add Curry leaves, whole red chilli mustards seed,asafoetida temper it on cooked sambhar.
  5. Tasty sambhar is ready to serve with z idi dosa and appe.

Add sambhar masala, sugar and vegetables, including the onions, and cook until the vegetables are tender, and add tamarind.
