Sambar is one of the most popular traditional Indian dishes that is not only healthy & nutritious but also tastes It is believed that sambar provides a complete nutrition to our body as it is protein packed.

The ingredients needed to make Sambar:
  1. Prepare 2 cups Pigeon Pea(Arhar Daal)
  2. Make ready 1 tablespoon turmeric powder

  19. Take 1 tablespoon Garam masala
  20. Make ready 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  21. Take 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  22. Prepare 1 1/2 tablespoon Sambhar Masala
  23. Take 2 tablespoons garlic (chopped)

Sambar accompanies many South Indian meals, like dosa, idli, rice. One can say South Indian meal is not complete without Sambar. I have used homemade sambar powder to make sambar recipe. But store-bought powder will work Wash and chop all the veggies you want to add to the sambar.

Instructions to make Sambar:
  1. Soak Daal for 1 hr…Add daal, vegetables, turmeric powder and Salt in a cooker..and cook it to 4-5 whistles.. once it is done mash it add imli pulp and keep it aside
  2. For tadka in a kadhai add oil…once it is hot add mustard seeds when it starts crackling add red chillies, curry leaves and bay leaves…then add garlic and cook till it is golden brown then add onions
  3. Once onions start frying and release oil add all the Dry spices and add this tadka in your sambhar and mix well…Your Sambhar is ready
  4. Garnish sambhar with coriander leaves and serve hot with Idlis,Rice,Dosa etc…

I have used carrots, baingan (small. Sambar podi, or sambar powder, is a an important ingredient found in South Indian kitchens.
