The ingredients needed to make Mixed Beans Masala:
  1. Get 2 cups mixed beans – Rajma, Chickpeas (kabuli chana), dried Green peas, black-eyed beans (Lobhia), and any other similar beans that you may have at home
  2. Get 1 medium onion – finely chopped
  3. Make ready 2-3 green chillies – cut lengthwise
  4. Get 3 ripe tomatoes – finely chopped
  5. Get 1 tsp ginger – chopped finely
  6. Take 10-15 garlic cloves – whole and peeled
  7. Take 1 tsp Cumin/ zeera
  8. Get 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  9. Take 2 tsp Red chilli powder
  10. Prepare 2 tsp Coriander Powder
  11. Make ready 3/4 tsp Garam masala
  12. Get 3 Tbsp oil
  13. Prepare to taste Salt
  14. Make ready leaves For garnishing – onion rings, ginger juliennes, lemon wedge, coriander
Instructions to make Mixed Beans Masala:
  1. Wash and soak 2 cups mixed beans overnight in good amount of water in a pressure pan. - Next morning, Don't drain the water. In the same water/beans add some salt and pressure cook on high heat. - After 2 whistles, reduce flame to sim, and let it cook for 30 minutes. Keep aside.
  2. In a pressure pan, heat oil, add zeera to crackle. - Add finely chopped onion, green chillies, chopped ginger and peeled garlic cloves. - Stir fry till onions are almost turning golden. (Don’t burn them, keep stirring)
  3. Add chopped tomatoes, cover and cook till tomatoes turn mushy.
  4. Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, add salt if required. Mix well.
  5. Add the cooked beans along with stock. It should be quite liquidy, so Add some water if necessary to get a good consistency of gravy.
  6. Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Let it stand for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Remove into serving dish and Garnish with onion rings, ginger, coriander leaves, and lemon wedges. - Serve hot with zeera rice or Rotis.
